Weed and Pot Club
If you love working with native plants, you will love the Weed & Pot Club! This volunteer gardening group meets every Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Spend your morning helping the Gardens thrive through weeding and propagation. Come prepared to work with covered shoes and gardening attire.
Location:Â Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, 150 Kanaloa Ave., Kahului. Across from the War Memorial Stadium; parking on street.
Days/times:Â Every Wednesday from 8:30 to 10:30 am, rain or shine, except State Holidays
Type of service:Â Volunteers help us maintain the public native Hawaiian plant garden by weeding for one hour, then potting up plants in our nursery for one hour. Gloves, tools, snacks, and drinks are provided. Both residents and visitors are welcome.
What to bring:Â Please wear covered shoes (no sandals) and clothes that can get dirty and allow for freedom of movement. Be prepared for sun and other inclement weather, and bring a refillable water bottle.
COVID protocols: All volunteering will take place outdoors and follow all COVID-19 regulations under the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the County of Maui, and State of Hawai‘i. Masks are optional.
Great for families. Bring the kids and friends to beach cleanups and restoration projects. See where plastics end up and why it’s important to reduce plastic use and commit to more sustainable agriculture and fishing with less adverse human impact.
Be sure to RSVP, sign a waiver (if applicable) and check with the mentioned organizer to confirm details in advance.
