Kayak Clean-up
Miami Waterkeeper is proud to continue our partnership with Miami EcoAdventures to offer public volunteer kayak clean-up events! Volunteers will hit the water on kayaks to conduct a marine debris clean-up in our coastal and mangrove habitats. University of Miami’s Rescue a Reef team will join us at this clean-up to educate participants on the importance of coral reef restoration!
Fee: $30 per person for a 2-hour kayak clean-up. Registration fee includes kayak, paddles, PFDs, hydration packets, light snacks, and a Miami Waterkeeper staff guide. Registration fees are due to RSVP, and refunds will not be issued for no-shows.Â
VOLUNTEER DAY MAIN TASKS:
- Removal of marine debris from the water and surrounding mangrove habitats
This volunteer event may require heavy lifting and experience on a kayak, hence teenagers and older groups are recommended. If younger age groups participate, they should be monitored at all times by the designated guardian, parents, etc. *Community Service hours also provided*Â
IMPORTANT VOLUNTEER INFORMATION:
Please be on time, registration begins 30 minutes before the volunteer workday starts. Please arrive at 9 am!

- Refillable water bottle. Stay hydrated and be prepared to work outside and on the water.
- Closed-toe shoes are required, and long-sleeved shirts and long pants are recommended (clothes that can get wet).

- Gloves you feel comfortable wearing (otherwise Miami Waterkeeper will provide gloves).
- The kayak clean-up is weather dependent and the event will be canceled within at least 24 hours if inclement weather is anticipated.

Great for families. Bring the kids and friends to beach cleanups and restoration projects. See where plastics end up and why it’s important to reduce plastic use and commit to more sustainable agriculture and fishing with less adverse human impact.
