Kaloko wildvoice

Description: Join the 808 Cleanups team in restoring parts of the Kaloko Inlet on the Ka’iwi Coastline.

Community Service Hours Signed: YES

Age Groups: All ages are welcome. Participants under 16 years of age must have a parent or guardian attend for the duration of the activity (we love having them participate as well!) We will provide multiple activity options for you based on age, physical ability, and interest.

How to join: Please send an RSVP by any of the following methods

  • 808 Cleanups App
  • Email at kimeonakane.808cleanups@gmail.com
  • DM on Instagram
  • Replies on our Facebook group

When your RSVP is confirmed, please make sure to sign the waiver here: https://808cleanups.org/waiver/

Where to meet: Look for the brown 808 Cleanups truck parked in the dirt parking area oceanside for Erma’s/Alan Davis/Left Point. We’ll meet at the truck for the briefing and supplies distribution.

Parking: Take the paved driveway down from the highway into the dirt parking area surrounded by boulders. Be careful of uneven terrain and make your way to the barricades where you’ll see the brown 808 Cleanups truck.

Work priorities:

  • Priority 1: Invasive species removal, digging and cutting out invasive mangroves, kiawe and haole koa to make way for native plants.
  • Priority 2: Litter removal along the coastline and trails.

What to bring: Sturdy shoes or boots, sun protection and water. Jeans or other work pants recommended for invasive species removal.

What 808 Cleanups brings: 808 Cleanups will provide all cleanup tools and supplies.

NOTE THERE ARE NO RESTROOMS AT THIS SITE. Nearest restroom is a half mile down at Sandy Beach Park.

Great for families. Bring the kids and friends to beach cleanups and restoration projects. See where plastics end up and why it’s important to reduce plastic use and commit to more sustainable agriculture and fishing with less adverse human impact.

Be sure to RSVP, sign a waiver (if applicable) and check with the mentioned organizer to confirm details in advance.

Some snorkel, dive or beach cleanups may require proper certification and being comfortable in or around the water and familiar with water safety. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out. Mahalo 🤙
