Hūnānāniho Beach Clean Up

September 16 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

Hunananiho beach clean up

Hūnānāniho Beach Clean Up

Aloha!  Please join the 808 Cleanups team in restoring this beautiful shoreline!

Community Service Hours Signed: YES

Age Groups: All ages are welcome. Participants under 16 years of age must have a parent or guardian attend for the duration of the activity (we love having them participate as well!)

How to join: Please send an RSVP by any of the following methods: 808 Cleanups App, Email at kimeonakane.808cleanups@gmail.com, DM on Instagram, replies on our Facebook group. When your RSVP is confirmed, please make sure to sign the waiver here: https://808cleanups.org/waiver/

Where to meet: Drive onto Tinker Road, just before the hairpin turn, there will be a grass area on the right, 21.351464, -157.707123 where the brown Toyota Tacoma truck with 808 Cleanups signage will be parked.  Park legally in the surrounding area and walk towards the truck.

Parking: If the roadside parking is full, you may continue along Tinker Road to the open gravel parking lot a minute down the road, turn left and park in the gravel area which used to be an active runway.

Work priorities: Our main focus will be to sift through the dune fronting Inoaole Stream and collect any trash and marine debris that may be along the shoreline.

What to bring: Slippers are okay, sun protection and water.  Do you have a creative way to sift plastic from sand?  Bring it with you and share it with the volunteers!

What 808 Cleanups brings: 808 Cleanups will provide all cleanup tools and supplies. We will also have ice-cold water.

Great for families. Bring the kids and friends to beach cleanups and restoration projects. See where plastics end up and why it’s important to reduce plastic use and commit to more sustainable agriculture and fishing with less adverse human impact.

Be sure to RSVP, sign a waiver (if applicable) and check with the mentioned organizer to confirm details in advance.

Some snorkel, dive or beach cleanups may require proper certification and being comfortable in or around the water and familiar with water safety. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out. Mahalo 🤙
