Please join Kimeona Kane and the Kahana ʻOhana with the incredible restoration of the Huilua Loko Iʻa. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A HIGHLY SENSITIVE CULTURAL SITE, THERE WILL BE CULTURAL PROTOCOL FOLLOWED STRICTLY.

Volunteer Hours are available.

We are so privileged to serve the Kahana Community by assisting with the restoration of this Native Hawaiian Fishpond called Huilua Loko Iʻa. Volunteers will be supporting by moving rocks onsite to the build area. There is also dry land opportunities to remove invasive weeds for those that do not wish to get wet.

Please make sure you are dressed accordingly, you will be in knee to thigh high water. Closed toe shoes or tabis are expected. Long sleeve dry fit or water functioning clothing is highly recommended to avoid scratches. Please make sure to use reef safe sunscreen and bring adequate sun protection equipment. Bring adequate drinking water for you and your party. Gloves and other equipment will be provided.

NOTE that there are no restrooms available onsite. The nearest restrooms will be located at the Kahana Bay State Recreation Park or the Swanzy Beach Park.

Limited parking is available on site. If you are traveling north bound, there will be a gravel parking area on the right side of the road known to many as the “Crouching Lion Hike” parking, about 150 feet north of that you will turn down into the drive way. If you are coming from North Shore and headed south, you will cross the second bridge and turn towards the left, a quarter mile from the turn, you will be making a left turn into the drive way.

We are so privileged to serve the Kahana Community by assisting with the restoration of this Native Hawaiian Fishpond called Huilua Loko Iʻa. Volunteers will be supporting by moving rocks onsite to the build area. There is also dry land opportunities to remove invasive weeds for those that do not wish to get wet.

Please make sure you are dressed accordingly, you will be in knee to thigh high water. Closed toe shoes or tabis are expected. Long sleeve dry fit or water functioning clothing is highly recommended to avoid scratches. Please make sure to use reef safe sunscreen and bring adequate sun protection equipment. Bring adequate drinking water for you and your party. Gloves and other equipment will be provided.

NOTE that there are no restrooms available onsite. The nearest restrooms will be located at the Kahana Bay State Recreation Park or the Swanzy Beach Park.

Limited parking is available on site. If you are traveling north bound, there will be a gravel parking area on the right side of the road known to many as the “Crouching Lion Hike” parking, about 150 feet north of that you will turn down into the drive way.
