Eco Restoration at Palehua

Sign Up HERE for one or more of our Eco Restoration Days!

Join our intrepid Conservation Manager Mashuri Waite for a fulfilling morning nurturing native Hawaiian plants, removing invasive weeds, and helping expand the renewed native ecosystem at our enclosure on Palehua.

Please wear covered shoes with good treads, sturdy work clothes (long pants and long sleeves) and bring your own gloves and bottle of water. Be prepared for sun, rain and possibly mosquitoes. Bring a backpack to carry snacks or a packed lunch.

You will be met at the Community Center by our Conservation Manager, Mashuri Waite, and carpool to the work site. Please don’t be late, as you need to be with the group to pass through the two locked gates on the Palehua property. We will provide tools, but feel free to bring your own if you wish.

Be prepared to walk about a mile on a forest trail and to use tools such as loppers, scythes, machetes and shovels. There’s an incredible view along the way!

Great for families. Bring the kids and friends to beach cleanups and restoration projects. See where plastics end up and why it’s important to reduce plastic use and commit to more sustainable agriculture and fishing with less adverse human impact.

Be sure to RSVP, sign a waiver (if applicable) and check with the mentioned organizer to confirm details in advance.

Some snorkel, dive or beach cleanups may require proper certification and being comfortable in or around the water and familiar with water safety. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out. Mahalo 🤙
